We are getting so close to leaving for the trip. We are so excited to get there to start meeting with people, building relationships, and filming the stories we find.
Just sharing our vision with others has been so great. Everyone has been so encouraging and engaged.
When we bring up the topic about the situation in Palestine and Israel, several have commented that they don’t believe there will ever be peace in that area. They like the whole idea of this film, but also tell us what they believe as the reality of the situation.
At first, we thought that was discouraging to hear. But then we realized our goal isn’t to bring ultimate peace. We aren’t capable of doing that. However, we are called to act justly. Mother Teresa once said, “In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.”
Although it may be true that no one can solve the conflict, this doesn’t give us the excuse to sit back and not do anything. If just a few lives are changed, or if only a few neighbors reconcile, then it will all be worth it. And it will be a movement towards reconciliation and peace.
On this trip and through this film, our goal isn’t to provide the solution to this ongoing conflict. We’re only going to search for the hope that people have for their future, and by revealing this hope, be encouraged to make the hope the reality.
